As we conclude Paramedic Services Week .....
We'd like to show how much we appreciate all the work that paramedics do.
Did you know that it was only in the 1970s that women became paramedics?
Today during Paramedic Services Week, we give you fact #4:

In celebration of Paramedic Services Week, we bring you fact #3:
Did you know paramedicine as we know it today started in the 1970s?
This week across the country we celebrate the dynamic men and women who have committed themselves to the profession of Paramedicine. Paramedics are an important part of our health care system, their skills can be used in a variety of areas including, emergency services, hospitals, events and patient transfer services.
To celebrate Paramedic Services Week, and the contributions of our very own paramedics at Spectrum Patient Services, we will be sharing daily factoids about the paramedic profession! Check out today’s fact:
(Toronto, Ontario) Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Spectrum Patient Services (SPS) is pleased to announce that it has successfully acquired Medical Transportation Services (MTS). MTS has been a trusted provider of patient transportation services in the Greater Toronto Area for over eight years. With this acquisition, SPS continues to be Ontario’s largest provider of non-urgent patient transfer services.
“SPS continuously strives to raise the standards of non-urgent patient transfer services. With the acquisition of MTS, we can continue fulfilling our vision of providing the best health care experience through the expansion of our fleet and employee base.” said Lori Lord, CEO of Spectrum Health Care, parent company of Spectrum Patient Services. “We are excited to welcome MTS’ highly skilled and qualified employees into the Spectrum family.”
MTS will be integrated and rebranded into Spectrum Patient Services and will continue to provide non-urgent patient transfer services to hospitals, retirement homes, long-term care/health care facilities and private residences through the Greater Toronto Area.
