Spectrum Health Care is committed to creating an inclusive environment that accommodates all individuals, including those with disabilities. We support the goals of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Acts (AODA) and have established policies, procedures and practices which adhere to the accessibility standards set out in the AODA, these include but are not limited to:

Use of Assistive Devices

Spectrum Health Care is dedicated to serving individuals with assistive devices. Where possible assistive devices are made available to individuals with disabilities; these devices include but are not limited to: Bell Relay Services, an accessible website, and the ability to obtain documents in an accessible format if requested.

Communication

Spectrum Health Care will communicate in a manner that takes into account an individual's disabilities and will make reasonable effort to ensure that any individuals with disabilities understand both the content and the intent of the communicated material. This includes providing a copy of the document in a format that meets the needs of the individual. Spectrum Health Care has also developed a website that makes use of industry standard techniques to provide the highest possible level of web accessibility and communication.

Support Persons/Use of Service Animals

Spectrum Health Care will accommodate individuals with disabilities who are using service animals or support persons. We will ensure that the individual with the disability will have access to their support person or service animal at all times while on the premises.

Feedback Process

Comments and feedback, on the services provided by Spectrum Health Care to individuals with disabilities, can be shared via phone, letter or email. Spectrum Health Care will provide and arrange accessible formats and communication supports, on request. Spectrum Health Care's management team will review all feedback received.

Training

Spectrum Health Care staff are appropriately trained in the practices, policies and procedures that deal with the provisions of goods and services to individuals with disabilities. Training includes: how to use assistive devices available at Spectrum Health Care, communicating with individuals using assistive devices, what to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing Spectrum Health Care's services and the requirements of the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service Act.
